January 2011

Hailey started basketball games this month. Here she is at her first game...

For Kylie's birthday this year, she took three friends to a Chief's hockey game. They had lots of fun eating arena goodies and drinking slurpees while cheering on our local hockey team.

Kylie got a guitar for her birthday, which is something she asked for for Christmas. Hopefully she still remembers a few notes from playing the viola last year.
We always take pictures of major events, but rarely do we take pictures of us just hanging out. Every Sunday we have "Family Hegwer Movie Day" and the girls pick a favorite snack and we watch a movie together as a family. Hailey is eating a rootbeer float in one of my grandma's old metal "rootbeer float cups" and Kylie is having cream cheese frosting on graham crackers. Grace is just happy to be sitting with the big girls!

Here is Grace on one of her many sick days this month. She is watching her new movie she got for Christmas: Leap Frog's Letter Factory.

Whenever I get a phone call, I have to go lock myself in my room so that I can actually hear who I am speaking to. We also have a linen closet that opens from the hallway as well as from my bedroom. Hailey thought it would be funny to show Grace the secret route into my room when I'm in my room with the door locked. It was cute this first time, but not so cute the next 100 times!

For Christmas my mom brought me the old handmade kitchen cupboard that my grandpa made for my mom and aunts. My sister Kelli and I used to play with it too and I consider myself lucky to have something my grandpa made. So, Scott sanded it down and repainted it and I peeled off the old contact paper and put new contact paper on. I also cut out each one of the polk-a-dots and stuck them on the kitchen one by one. It turned out to be very cute and Gracie loves playing with it.

My dear mother sent this old costume to my girls yesterday. My mom made it for my sister Kelli as a "Glenda dress" when she played Wizard of Oz. My older two girls thought it was too small (and ugly) but Grace thought it was the Bees Kneeze. The girl can make anything look good!

  2. Good stuff. I'm glad I know about the secret entry to your room. Now we can get in when Ben and Scott lock us out!
